The ISEC: T1D Islet Autoantibody Screening and Referral Ecosystem Compendium

A global reference tool mapping islet autoantibody screening, confirmatory testing, and monitoring pathways for early T1D detection across 20+ countries

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the islet autoantibody (IAb) screening pathways available in your country and understand how to access confirmatory testing for individuals at risk of type 1 diabetes (T1D)
  • Describe the three phases of T1D early detection – screening, confirmatory testing and staging, and monitoring – and the practical steps involved at each stage across key global markets
  • Recognize the growing international policy momentum driving T1D early detection programs and how it is shaping care pathways across 20+ countries

Summary

The Islet autoantibody Screening and referral Ecosystem Compendium (ISEC) is a living reference tool developed by Sanofi to support healthcare practitioners in establishing and navigating type 1 diabetes (T1D) islet autoantibody (IAb) screening programs.

Structured around three core sections – screening, confirmatory testing and staging, and monitoring – it provides country-specific detail for more than 20 countries including the UK, USA, France, Germany, Italy, and Australia. For each country, the ISEC outlines standard clinical practice, active research initiatives, assay methodologies, testing facilities, applicable guidelines, and individual cost implications.

Information is current as of August 2026. Where pathways are absent, practitioners are encouraged to contact their local Sanofi representative.
