Raffaella Buzzetti

Professor Raffaella Buzzetti is a Professor of Endocrinology at Sapienza University of Rome and has been leading the Diabetes Department at Policlinico Umberto I Hospital in Rome, where she provides integrated care with a constant delivery of diabetes and metabolic diseases services. She is a board member of the National Committee of Italian Ministry of University. In addition to her clinical activity, Professor Buzzetti coordinates the II semester of the IV year in Medicine and Surgery of the Sapienza University, while holding courses of “Integrated pathology III”. Professor Buzzetti graduated in Medicine and Surgery, she specialized in "Endocrinology” and in "Medical Genetics" at Sapienza University of Rome. In-between the two specialties she was Research Fellow at Queen Mary College, St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London.

Professor Buzzetti's major clinical and research interests are the genetic susceptibility of type 1 diabetes, pathogenesis and clinical features of type I diabetes and adult-onset autoimmune diabetes, leading clinical trials for phase II and phase III studies. She is the author and co-author of 285 articles, 78 in the last 3 years; in peer-reviewed journals (H. I. Scopus 53); she is a board member of DMRR and President Elected of the Italian Society of Diabetes.
