Olga Kordonouri

Most parents experience the onset of their child's diabetes as a bolt from the blue. They feel helpless and powerless. Their first thoughts are guilt and fear that they may have missed something. That is why prompt care from an experienced multidisciplinary diabetes team is so important.
Professor Olga Kordonouri is a pediatrician and pediatric diabetologist. She is Head of the Department of General Pediatrics, Diabetology, Endocrinology and Clinical Research as well as of the Emergency Room and the Day Care Unit at the Children’s Hospital AUF DER BULT in Hannover, Germany. She holds also the position of Deputy Medical Director. Prof. Kordonouri studied at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and received her professorship of pediatrics, specializing in pediatrics and pediatric diabetology at the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. Since 2008, she has an extraordinary professorship at the Medical School of Hannover, Germany. She is currently President of the Northern German Society for Children and Adolescent Medicine. Prof. Kordonouri has an extensive research and publication portfolio, focusing on insulin analogs, insulin infusion pumps, continuous glucose monitoring, and closed-loop systems as well as on type 1 diabetes associated autoimmune diseases and primary, secondary and tertiary prevention programs She has performed more than 60 clinical trials as Principal Investigator/Deputy Principal Investigator and has more than 240 publications.
