Machine learning has the potential to facilitate earlier detection and clinical diagnosis of T1D (Stage 3) in primary care. Research is now needed to evaluate how effective and how acceptable it would be.
Julia Townson is a Principal Research Fellow at the Cardiff University, a position she has held since 2023. Her PhD research focused on evaluating the prodrome to diagnosis and the effect of setting in the early management of type 1 diabetes in childhood, undertaken at the School of Medicine, Cardiff University and which she defended in 2020. She currently conducts and leads research relating to children and young people with type 1 diabetes to help improve outcomes prior to diagnosis.
